Our goal is to create students who are lifelong learners. Giving back to the community through Service Learning gives students the chance to put their classroom skills into action. Service shows that a person is committed to working hard and to working for the common good. 21st century skills demand that students have a vision for their lives and that they want to make a postivie impact on society -- our goal is to help them build that vision.
The Flex Academy Service Learning requirement is to equip students with the necessary skills and abilities for career and educational advancement as well as motivate students to take an active role as leaders in their communities.
Flex Academy understands that community service opportunities are available in many forms. Therefore, documentation of service learning minutes will be left to the student and parent to complete through our online form.
Service Learning minutes will appear on the Student Learning Plan (report card) each quarter. This feature will provide students and parents with up-to-date information regarding the minutes that are currently on file.
Who can participate?
Here at the Flex Academy we recognize students who complete any number of Service Learning minutes. This program is a great way for families to hear about fun community service opportunities. Each family may participate in as many or as few of the opportunities as they wish, as long as they meet the Flex Academy guidelines and minimun minute requirement.
How am I recognized for all of my hard work?
All students that participate, regardless of minutes, will receive a recognition certificate and be invited to the Awards Banquet each Spring.
What qualifies as service learning minutes?
